Living With the HONOR 600: More Than Just a Pretty Smartphone
When I first unboxed the HONOR 600 in Orange, my immediate thought was simple: finally, a smartphone with some personality.
Let's be honest—most smartphones today look almost identical. They come in the same colours, have similar designs, and often struggle to stand out from one another. The HONOR 600 changes that conversation the moment you take it out of the box.
The orange finish is bold, fun and refreshing. It feels like a device made for people who don't want their tech to be boring. In fact, during the week I spent using the device, it sparked more conversations than any smartphone I've used recently.
But once the excitement of the design wears off, the real question becomes: what's it actually like to live with every day?
Thankfully, the HONOR 600 delivers where it matters most.
My day typically starts with emails, WhatsApp messages, social media updates and a never-ending stream of notifications. Throughout all of this, the phone remained responsive and smooth. Apps opened quickly, switching between tasks felt effortless, and I never found myself waiting for the device to catch up.
One area where the HONOR 600 shines is content creation. Whether you're capturing moments at a family gathering, taking photos at an event, or creating content for Instagram and TikTok, the camera system does a solid job of producing vibrant images without requiring much effort.
The AI tools are particularly useful for everyday users who don't necessarily want to spend time editing photos. A few taps can improve an image dramatically, making content feel ready to share almost instantly.
That said, I do think HONOR sometimes leans a little too heavily into AI processing. There were moments when photos looked slightly more polished than reality. Some users will love this, while others may prefer a more natural look.
Battery life was another pleasant surprise. I comfortably made it through busy workdays without worrying about reaching for a charger before dinner. In a world where many of us spend hours on our phones every day, that reliability matters.
However, the bold orange finish won't appeal to everyone. While I personally enjoyed it, users looking for something more subtle may find it too attention-grabbing. The competition in this price category is also fierce, meaning buyers have plenty of alternatives to consider.
Still, what I appreciated most about the HONOR 600 wasn't a particular feature or specification—it was the overall experience. It feels approachable, easy to use, and designed around how people actually use smartphones today.
The HONOR 600 may not reinvent the smartphone category, but it doesn't need to. Instead, it delivers a stylish, dependable experience wrapped in a design that dares to be different.
And honestly, that's something I wish more smartphone brands would do.
