Corruption Watch applauded for “bold” new media campaign

Corruption Watch (CW) on Wednesday launched its latest public awareness campaign in Sandton, Johannesburg, to an audience comprising civil society and public service partners, funders, and the media, among others. The Impempe Campaign is the culmination of a creative collaboration between CW and Avatar Agency Group, which hosted the event at its offices. Its focus is public awareness and community mobilisation against corruption. Impempe makes a daring call to the public, asking a simple yet provocative question: are you an impimpi (sell-out) or an impempe (whistle) in the fight against corruption that South Africa desperately needs? The campaign also aims to de-stigmatise the act of whistle-blowing while playing tribute to those who have sacrificed their livelihoods, freedom, and at times lives by blowing the whistle. CW executive director Lebogang Ramafoko told the audience that while whistle-blowers in South Africa do not yet have the all-encompassing protection they need from ...

Living With the HONOR 600: More Than Just a Pretty Smartphone

Image
When I first unboxed the HONOR 600 in Orange, my immediate thought was simple: finally, a smartphone with some personality. Let's be honest—most smartphones today look almost identical. They come in the same colours, have similar designs, and often struggle to stand out from one another. The HONOR 600 changes that conversation the moment you take it out of the box. The orange finish is bold, fun and refreshing. It feels like a device made for people who don't want their tech to be boring. In fact, during the week I spent using the device, it sparked more conversations than any smartphone I've used recently. But once the excitement of the design wears off, the real question becomes: what's it actually like to live with every day? Thankfully, the HONOR 600 delivers where it matters most. My day typically start...

Image
Beyond the buzz of its AI imaging to video innovation, the series’ performance, presentation and creativity are seizing the spotlight.   The new  HONOR 600 Series  has not gone unnoticed. It is seen on training grounds, in team buses, at airports, in recovery rooms and in the hands of players reviewing performance clips long after the final whistle has blown. How the HONOR 600 Series Gives Aspiring Creators More Ways to Shape Everyday Moments Into Content People Want To Follow

Image
The HONOR 600 Series gives aspiring creators more ways to shape everyday moments into content people want to follow.   The next big creator does not always begin with a studio, a production team or a perfectly planned content calendar. Sometimes it starts with the moments already sitting in the camera roll: a match-day celebration, or an unrehearsed behind-the-scenes shot that captured more feeling than expected. That scroll through your phone’s gallery will now automatically cause a scroll stop – suddenly recognising those moments loved, now forgotten, and the possibility of recreating them as video, a story that must be brought to life again.   For creators, new or experienced the real shift is learning how to turn those moments into a recognisable style. That means knowing what to shoot, how to frame it, when to edit, how often to post and how to build a visual rhythm that makes people come back. The HONOR 600 Series fits naturally into that process, bringing together AI...

A Call to Prioritise Men’s Wellbeing

Image
Men’s Health Month is observed every June as a time to raise awareness about the health challenges men face and to encourage them to take a more proactive approach to their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. The month serves as an important reminder that good health is not only about treating illness, but also about prevention, early detection, and building healthy habits that support long-term quality of life. Men are often less likely than women to seek medical help early, attend routine check-ups, or speak openly about mental health concerns. As a result, many health conditions are diagnosed later than they should be, making treatment more difficult. Men’s Health Month aims to address these barriers by encouraging men to speak up, seek help when needed, and make their health a priority throughout the year. This annual awareness month highlights the importance of regular health screenings, including checks for blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, prostate health, and other ...
