HONOR X7d Review: The Budget Phone That’s Hard to Ignore

Hey Digital Delights family!  Today we’re diving into a phone that’s been quietly making waves: the HONOR X7d. You’ve probably seen it pop up on your feed or in your local tech store, and you might be wondering: is it really worth the hype? Well, I’ve been testing it out for a while, and here’s the tea.

First Impressions

Straight out of the box, the HONOR X7d gives off premium energy — without the premium price tag. It’s got a big, bold 6.77-inch display that immediately grabs your attention, a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and a surprisingly solid build that feels more expensive than it actually is. The phone also has an IP65 dust and water resistance rating, which is always a plus if, like me, you’re prone to the occasional coffee spill.

Day-to-Day Performance

Let’s talk performance. The HONOR X7d is powered by a Snapdragon chip that handles everyday tasks with ease. From scrolling through TikTok and Instagram to switching between WhatsApp, Spotify, and Gmail — the phone runs smoothly. The 120Hz refresh rate really adds that “flagship feel” when you’re scrolling through your social feeds or binge-watching YouTube.

That said, this isn’t a gaming beast. If you’re into heavy gaming or video editing, you might notice a bit of lag or slower loading times. But for regular daily use? It’s more than capable.

Display and Design Vibes

Visually, the phone looks sleek and modern. The large screen gives you a nice viewing experience whether you’re watching series or editing Reels. The only catch? It’s HD+ resolution, not full HD — so while it’s bright and colorful, it’s not as sharp as higher-end phones. Still, for its price, the smoothness and size of the screen make up for it.

It’s also a bit on the bigger side, so one-handed texting might feel like a workout at first — but that big screen real estate is perfect for content lovers.

Camera Test Results

Now, onto the fun part — the camera. The HONOR X7d features a 108MP main camera (some markets have 50MP versions) with a 2MP depth sensor, and an 8MP selfie camera.

Here’s my experience:

  • Daylight shots: Impressive for its price! The photos come out bright and detailed, and the colors look natural without being over-processed.

  • Low-light shots: This is where it struggles a bit. Images tend to lose detail and sharpness in dim environments, but that’s expected for a budget-friendly device.

  • Selfies: The 8MP front camera is great for social media snaps. Skin tones look natural, and the beauty filters are subtle enough to enhance without overdoing it.

  • Videos: You can shoot up to 1080p at 30fps, which is fine for casual use or vlogging, though not cinematic-level.

Battery Life That Goes On and On

The 6,500mAh battery is one of the biggest wins here. I went through a full day of social media, photography, music streaming, and YouTube — and still had power left by bedtime. Charging with the 35W fast charger is decent too; you’ll be back to full in about an hour and a half.

If you’re someone who hates carrying a power bank, the X7d will quickly become your best friend.

The Pros and Cons

Pros:
✅ Big 6.77" display with 120Hz refresh rate
✅ Massive 6,500mAh battery — two days of life if you’re a light user
✅ Solid build with IP65 dust and water resistance
✅ Smooth performance for everyday tasks
✅ Great value for money

Cons:
❌ HD+ screen isn’t the sharpest
❌ No ultra-wide or telephoto lens
❌ Low-light camera performance could be better
❌ Slight lag with heavy gaming
❌ Big size might not suit everyone

Final Verdict

If you’re looking for a reliable phone that offers smooth performance, great battery life, and a surprisingly premium design at a friendly price — the HONOR X7d deserves a spot on your list. It’s not trying to compete with flagship giants, but it nails the basics beautifully.

For students, young professionals, or anyone who wants a phone that looks good, performs well, and lasts all day — this is an absolute steal.

My Digital Delights rating? 8.5/10 — a delightful surprise in the budget range.
